For many years now, at Bill and Ted University of the future, the people of the world have been excellent to each other. But fed-up with Bill and Teds peaceful world and even more fed up with heavy metal, Chuck De Nomolos decides to do something about it. De Nomolos creates cyborg versions of Bill and Ted, who travel back to 1990 with orders to kill the human versions of Bill and Ted, win the Battle of the Bands, and pave the way for De Nomolos to take over the future. In 1990, Bill and Ted are sent to hell by the cyborgs. Cyborg Bill and cyborg Ted make time with the real Bill and Teds girlfriends Joanna and Elizabeth and prepare to take the human Bill and Teds place in the Battle of the Bands. With the help of their friend Rufus, the human Bill and Ted are forced to find a way out of hell, deal with the Grim Reaper, and talk to God himself, in their mission to get to the Battle of the Bands and stop the two cyborgs

Although i'm glad it wasn't totally bogus, Bill and Ted Face the Music was a rather amusing, but mostly underwhelming sequel, tied down by knots of complicated plot and scenarios that simply make the film feel unneeded. I praise Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter for reprising their roles as Bill and Ted, and the two are as fantastic as ever throughout the film. Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, and Kristen Schaal also find themselves some good performances throughout the flick- but unfortunately the large cast throughout can feel a bit overwhelming at times. When I first saw the original Bill and Ted, I was amazed to find myself so entertained and amused by such a complicated concept made so simply. Somewhere along the way in this film, it feels like it looses that spark. Bill and Ted's chemistry may never go down, but the overall tone and feel of the film feels messy. It doesn't feel rushed, it seems to know exactly what it is doing throughout and when to do it, but oddly this film feels overstuffed with content, and it just doesn't make for as excellent of an adventure that it could have been. The film has its fair share of funny moments, and its plot can be engaging, but sadly it becomes rather predictable to a fault at times, and it all ends kinda abruptly.I enjoyed the dynamic between Bill and Ted's daughter, and their adventure, but sadly their part in the film feels criminally undermined by a sense of pointlessness. In the end, Bill and Ted Face the Music is a decent long awaited sequel for fans, but doesn't offer anything that the first two didn't already do a whole lot better. It has its moments, and it's decent, but it's unfortunately rather average.
